3:00 p.m. (GMT) / 10:00 a.m. (EST) 2nd February 2012

Presenters

Betsy Otto, Director of Aqueduct at the World Resources Institute and Jon Freedman, Global Leader - Government Relations, GE Power & Water, Water & Process Technologies

Description

Join the World Resources Institute to learn more about Aqueduct, a database and set of tools designed to help businesses, investors, and other stakeholders measure, map, and manage water related risks. Aqueduct looks beyond water scarcity to the complex factors that create risk around water.

This webinar will address how:

  • Water is increasingly emerging as a key area of concern for investors and businesses in many different sectors of the economy;
  • Water can create risks for companies in many different ways, from scarcity of process water to uncertainty around water pricing or regulations, to competition among various users of water resources;
  • Understanding what these risks are, and where they are highest, requires more data than a simple assessment of how much water is available in a given place;
  • Aqueduct brings together data on many of the drivers of water risk into one place, and creates maps that show where water risks may emerge;
  • Aqueduct’s maps are flexible, and can be tailored to reflect the widely varying risk profiles of different businesses in different sectors.
