See your carbon footprint - now!
The Carbon Quilt (http://www.carbonquilt.org/) enables you to instantly see the carbon footprint of a country, a light bulb or your business. With a few key strokes you can see the scale of the challenge ahead or the change you aim to achieve. You can show your board, workforce, customers and others, powerful images that bring the numbers to life.
Carbon Quilt images have already been used by the Guardian, Central Bedfordshire Council, Al Gore, Stoke Newington School, on tour in Canada and Sky News amongst others and can help you achieve a breakthrough in your climate change communications.
Emissions can be seen as a 'patch' of the Carbon Quilt proportionate to global emissions and positioned over your zip/post code. Bespoke images and animations can also be commissioned to meet the communication needs of your organisation or for educational purposes. Visit the gallery (www.carbonquilt.org/gallery) to see example images, videos and interactive maps.
The current Carbon Quilt website is just the beginning. Further development is underway and the Carbon Quilt team are keen to help tell your carbon story in a way that makes sense to your audience immediately.
2Degrees members are encouraged to try the site and add comments to the forum thread. Could this be useful to you? What would make it more useful? Would a webinar be useful. We could (a) provide a real time demonstration of how members can make free use of the Carbon Quilt tools right now; and (b) invite members' comments and questions on their needs and potential applications - to help prioritise the next stage of development of the tools and bespoke offerings.
