About this group

This working group will examine compliance carbon markets and climate finance particularly focusing on the role which the private sector plays in helping to address climate change through the UNFCCC Kyoto Protocol's flexible mechanisms. In addition the group will discuss ways in which the current market based mechanisms can be scaled up to further accelerate the transition of global economies to a low carbon pathway. Specific areas covered include: international climate change negotiations; regional climate change initiatives; cap and trade; forestry; sectoral crediting mechanisms and other means of carbon finance.
