On Thursday 18th Nov, we heard from Debra Lam, Senior Policy Officer at Arup in Hong Kong, about the research they have done looking at water resource management in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

A masterplan has been created, covering areas such as urban drainage, flood prevention and desalination for HCMC to consider and implement.

A key point in Debra's presentation was how useful looking at successful case study examples from other cities was in finding solutions for HCMC.

You can access the recording of the webinar here. Debra's slides are also available to download here

Below are some of the questions that were posed. Debra is happy to answer more questions in this forum and we would like to hear from other cities about what they have done, or advice they would like regarding water and climate change resilience.

Were there any issues surrounding the involvement of the private sector in the research?

What private sector organisations were most helpful in terms of solutions?

How fast are these concrete solutions going to be implemented? e.g. wetland restoration, how did the government react to such solutions?

Are the Asian Development Bank and other agencies keen to fund this type of work in parts of Asia?
