Challenges You're Bringing to Summit Table I

A key challenge in the waste management world, wherever the organization operates (in offices, factories, warehouses or construction sites) is employee engagement.  How can we overcome initial negativity and drive meaningful, long-lasting behavioral change cost effectively?  It's important to learn whether any organizations have mastered this, to see what we can learn from them.  How can we communicate with staff to ensure that they use the facilities correctly? Could a commitment to sustainable behavior be included in a job specification?

Looking beyond direct employees, another challenge is how to influence the waste management practices of suppliers and contactors to divert waste from landfill.

What does “good” look like?  It would be helpful to know how to benchmark where your organization is on its waste management journey, to know where you are, where you want to be, and to map out how to get there.

What are the innovative emerging waste management technologies, and what role will they play in the future? For example, is there a role for energy generation from micro household anaerobic digestion?

These challenges and others will be discussed at Table I on January 24th at the 2degrees Summit. Please share your thoughts below in the comments section!
