Sustainable Biofuels

Are biofuels a viable component in a sustainable transport strategy – what is the carbon reduction potential, which biofuel production technologies are sustainable, and what are the economic benefits? How can these benefits be realized while minimizing risks, and what current legislation is affecting the biofuels market?

These are some of the questions which this Working Group may address – it aims to bring together the key players in the biofuels market, both producers and consumers, to create a cross-industry platform for knowledge transfer and discussion on the viability, sustainability and current opportunities of liquid biofuels.

Jatropha holds promise as a biofuel crop but its lack of cultivation history and crop improvement make the plant’s oil yield highly variable in both quantity and quality, according to a landmark report. The report, Jatropha: A Smallholder Bioenergy Crop, was published by the UN Food and Agriculture Organization and the International Fund for Agricultural Development this month. The aim of the report was to assess the economic potential of the plant for small land holders in developing countries. Webinar: Biofuels Under the Obama Administration

How have these changes impacted the US biofuels industry and the outlook for biofuels over the next several years?

Join Graham Noyes from Stoel Rives LLP in a webinar discussion addressing the above questions.
