Carbon Reduction Commitment Best Practices

mission summary

The Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC) is a UK based carbon trading scheme that will commence in April 2010 and include approximately 5000 private and public organisations with an energy consumption of great than 6000 MWh/yr. In preparation for this scheme, these organisations will be required from April 2009 to measure and report to Defra/DECC the operational carbon dioxide emissions of their business.

Individuals responsible for CRC compliance — in energy, finance, environment and CSR roles — need to understand the best practices for CRC compliance. Otherwise they may face the wrath of the CEO due to large unbudgeted costs and reputational damage.

This network will help corporates and individuals thrown into the CRC management cauldron to achieve low carbon, low cost compliance and prepare for a much tougher regulatory regime in 2010.

Verdantix Carbon Reduction Commitment Best Practices

This is a complimentary copy of the Verdantix analysis of best practices for the CRC. We cover compliance issues, financial planning, business planning and reputation management. The overall conclusion is that the CRC makes energy & carbon management mandatory but is unlikely to result in emissions reductions prior to 2012.
