Awards Champions 2015

Energy, Carbon and Property

Energy & Carbon Management – Short-Term Payback

Rewarding the most effective energy or carbon management projects that have seen payback within a two year period. It could be anything from LED light installations or the use of vehicle-tracking technology, through to the update of energy management software.

Energy Management Solution

This is your chance to shout about the best product, service or technology that is really helping energy and facilities professionals do their job better. It might be something you can smell or touch, or it might be a new piece of software that has made Excel a thing of the past.

Innovation of the Year

We are on the look-out for the very best innovators, pioneers or inventors with the technologies and solutions that are yet to reach full commercialisation. The Sustainable Innovation of the Year award will go to the organization or person that demonstrates true invention – and the power to disrupt, transform or create a brand new product category all of its own.

New Building

This category rewards the shiny new developments that have been developed in the last 12 months. Tell us about the innovative use of materials, techniques, technologies and solutions that have contributed to your sustainable building project.

Property Retrofit

This category rewards the most impressive retrofit and refurbishment projects out there. Tell us about your innovative use of technology and solutions in the built environment and what you have done to create the best-performing buildings on the market.

Strategic Energy Management

We want to reward those organizations that have achieved the most impressive long-term strategic savings – whether through unique energy procurement contracts, effective energy or carbon management projects or ambitious energy-saving internal funds or partnerships. Winning projects might include renewable energy system installations, variable speed drive kit-outs, the renewal of refrigeration equipment or entire retrofit projects.

Engagement and Social Value

Corporate Reporting

Establishing materiality; engaging key stakeholders; communicating in a way that brings your customers on board; integrating with financial reporting; managing data. It’s clear that sustainability reporting remains a challenge. This category will seek to reward the very best examples of reporting in action.

External Communications

This award celebrates the marketing and communications campaigns that have really made an impact. Tell us how you got creative, understood your audience, created value by gaining the competitive advantage, generated awareness and grew your reach.

Internal Engagement

Getting colleagues on your side is a tough ask. This category is open to the very best examples of staff engagement – the projects that have really worked to bridge the gap between team leaders and those on the shop floor, as well as senior management and board level decision makers.

Social Value

This category will recognise and reward the very best examples of sustainability initiatives that reach out to local communities and positively impact society in unique, exciting and truly engaging ways.

Supply Chain and Resources

Supply Chain Management

Bringing your suppliers on the journey! This category is designed to reward the great things being done to encourage supply chains to engage in the sustainability journey. It might be an in-depth supply chain-mapping project, or a collaborative initiative to effectively bring your suppliers on board.

The Circular Economy Award

Rewarding the very best examples of organizations – from across the value chain – that are driving circular economy principles through new business models, strategies and technologies that are creating wealth in a resource-constrained world.

Water Management

Winners of this category will have shown that water risk forms a core part of their overall strategy. Promote what you have done to reduce water use, embed water stewardship principles, develop a water-risk strategy, track your usage or collaborate with suppliers.

Zero Waste

An award celebrating the most impressive project that demonstrates you are thinking differently about waste. So, if you’ve been busy working to send no waste to landfill we want to know about it.

The Personal Awards

Champion of the Year

Rewarding the very best sustainability leader within business: Somebody that has driven the sustainability strategy with skill and determination, shown true leadership and made great things happen.

Sustainable Business Supporter of the Year

This is for those operating in a non-sustainability role who have really contributed to the sustainability agenda. What better way to engage the whole business in your sustainability journey than to put a colleague forward as worthy winner of this category.

Only one entry per organization allowed.

The 2degrees Awards are free to enter and open to everyone.

Cost

Great news: It’s completely free to enter.

How to Enter

We know you’re busy being a 2degrees Champion in the making, so we’ve purposefully made it super quick and easy. Just complete the online entry form before Friday 6th March 2015.

What You’ll Need to Tell Us (in no more than 150 words)

  • The background – set the scene by briefly describing the context of your entry and what you hoped to achieve.
  • What you did – go into the detail of what you did and how you did it.
  • The result – What financial, environmental, and social impact did you achieve?
  • The personal pitch – why do you deserve to win?
  • Give it some flavour – link to YouTube videos, websites, PDFs or other interactive elements to support your entry and bring it to life

Entering a Client

Consultants are welcomed to submit a full entry on behalf of their clients through the online entry form.

Nominating Someone

You will only need to provide the contact details of the person or company you wish to nominate. A member of the 2degrees team will then contact them to see if they wish to enter. Your nomination is not a guarantee that they’ll be entered; it will be up to the nominee to do so themselves.

Shortlisted Entries

All entries will be considered by the 2degrees community team and those shortlisted will be notified via email in March/April 2015, before being published on the 2degrees platform.

Deciding the Winners

Unlike other awards that are judged by a guest panel, our 2degrees Champions are voted for by their expert peers. Winners will be fully determined by 2degrees members through online voting, which will open in March and will last for six weeks.

How Voting Works

Each entry will be published on the 2degrees platform for members to access and evaluate the value behind each case study prior to casting their vote. To make voting as fair as possible, the following rules will apply:

  • 2degrees members are permitted to vote in as many categories as they wish
  • Only one vote may be cast for each entry
  • Companies and individuals are allowed to vote for themselves, however these votes will not count towards the final result, but will be used to decide the winner of a special Best Internal Engagement Activity award.

Announcing the Winners

Winners of all categories will be announced at an awards ceremony in London, July 2015
