Mechanical Ventilation and Heat Recovery in New Homes: What does it mean for air quality?

The Zero Carbon Hub Ventilation and Air Quality Taskgroup has published an interim report looking at air quality in the context of the projected increases in use of mechanical ventilation and heat recovery (MVHR) systems in new-build homes. The report calls for a better evidence base for installed performance of MVHR, a more robust approach to designing and installing systems, and better advice for users. The report also gives special attention to source control of indoor pollutants, which has a relevance regardless of the ventilation system.
