Waste Management Yearbook 2012

This Yearbook contains a collection of provocative articles by senior figures whose views and decisions help to shape the waste industry.  The most prominent and controversial author is the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, Rt Hon Eric Pickles MP. His article is a passionate defence of the need for weekly bin collections to remain the norm in local communities, for the benefit of residents.  In response, the Yearbook publishes an equally vociferous argument for a very different, and perhaps more radical, vision for how British
householders and businesses should manage their waste, by Andy Atkins, the respected executive director of Friends of the Earth.  Articles cover a wide range of topical issues,
from the latest directives emanating from the European Union to developments in growing UK industries such as energy-from waste, anaerobic digestion and composting
